Winter for a Day

Our bright and sunny autumn lasted until Sunday when at last we had some rain.  Then on Monday it was clear and sunny again though cooler because the mountain tops are now all snow-covered. What a beautiful way to start the day, looking at the sun rising over the sea, reflecting on the white mountains and the autumn colours of the trees, all capped by the rosy sky.  It will invigorate you to explore this wonderful natural world.  And you will have ten hours of daylight to do it in because here, even in mid winter, it is light between 8.00 am and 6.00 p.m.   And the quality of the daylight is another delight; tired eyes can read without glasses; photographers need to use no tricks; artists need morning, noon and evening pictures on the go because of the changing shadows.  Then add fresh clean air, no polution day or night, and you have the perfect recipe for that feeling of well-being which might be escaping those who live in less privileged places.
