Good news ....

There’s good news and bad news. First the bad: in July this year IVA (VAT) in Spain went up from 16% to 18%, so there’s been a price hike of at least 2% as the tax rise reflected in consumer prices. Now for the good news: our prices have not changed for three years and if you book your next year’s holiday with us before the end of this year we will respect the same old prices. But we will be raising our prices by 2% on bookings received after 1st January 2011. We hope this will encourage you to get planning!
Looking back over the year, our season (March to October) was much busier than we had expected and now we are looking forward to a quiet winter to recharge our batteries, and do all those niggling and postponed maintenance jobs; also to catch up on some reading, to test out some new recipes for next year’s visitors, and to check out all our walk routes and discover some new ones.
The Autumn season ended with a flurry of gales and rain which fell as snow in the high mountains. Now the weather is set fair once more and we are enjoying the beautiful contrasting colours; golden leaves, bright blue sky and white mountains. Daytime temperatures are in the mid teens, perfect for outdoors, and at night we have the log fire burning cosily and the central heating on in the bedrooms. But, despite November being one of the very best months for walking in the Alpujarras, there is never much demand for accommodation. Perhaps it’s just not customary to holiday in November or perhaps people are beginning to think of Christmas and all that planning… However, if you’d like to give Christmas a rest this year your option could be to spend it here, laid-back and no fuss.
